Review: #20530 Fan Smurf

Back in 2004 Schleich released eight new Smurfs with a soccer (football) theme. What I liked most about these Soccer Smurfs is that they included a trainer, president of the club and fans. Today, I wanted to bring to your attention Fan Smurf also known as Supporter, only sold for three years.

Wearing a novelty hat and scarf, and waving the team’s flag and blowing on his horn. The team colours are orange and yellow, as can be seen with the scarf and some face paint on the right cheek.

There are two different versions of the face paint. One with the face paint stamped onto the cheek and one with the face paint hand painted onto the cheek.

The face paint is not always easy to spot. But zooming in can help. When the face paint is stamped onto the check, the stripes are more rectangular in shape. Though when hand painted, the stripes have brushstroke effect.

Smurfette Review: #20770 Manager Smurfette

We tend to think of Smurfette as always having fun. But this changed in 2015 when Schleich released their Office themed series. Dressed in business attire with white heeled shoes, while holding a spiral notepad. Totally focused on her job and dealing with a stressful issue, as expressed by her oval shaped mouth and a bead of sweat on her right cheek.

Manager Smurfette is unlike the other seven Smurfs that make up the Office series. None of the others appeared to be looking stressed. Was this intentional by Schleich? Overall collectors appeared to like the Office series, though some thought it was a strange choice of a theme.  However, Smurfs are for children with imaginations and not for people like me who collects.

My opinion of Manager Smurfette has changed since it was first released. I now would like to see more portrayals of Smurfette in different job environments. I understand that she is no Barbie (thank goodness) but it’s important to see Smurfette in different ways.

Manager Smurfette shows a different side of her, but is still impressive. A business woman, who has style and class under pressure! Go girl!
