It was around late September 2016 when we first started to hear about the 2017 Lost Village Smurfs. In the beginning it was just their names that were released, no pictures. Were they sets? What are they? Did they come with accessories? To say details at this point of time were a little vague would be understatement.

It wasn’t until late December that I saw a picture of some of the new Lost Village smurfs. If there is one thing that collecting smurfs has taught me is that you should never judge a smurf by an online picture. I know the saying “a thousand words describes a picture” but sometimes a picture isn’t always showing us everything.
I recall receiving just this picture taken from the 2017 January to June Schleich catalogue back in January.
Fast forward to November 2017, what do smurf collectors think of the Lost Village Smurfs. Have they kept them in their original boxes or did they take them out to display? Everyone knows that once you have taken them out of their boxes it is almost impossible to put them back. I know at least one collector, who has decided to keep them in their boxes but will eventually buy another set of each to have loose.
The other thing I heard frequently was that some people didn’t like the way Schleich marketed them. The way to get all of them you ended up with duplicates as several smurfs were repeated in some boxes and others were not. This begs the question, will Schleich sell these smurfs loose in a couple of years down the track. Like Schleich did with their Decade Display Box sets in 2011 and then by 2013 these were sold on individual blister cards or loose.
I was quite impressed with the Lost Village Smurfs, to be honest I think they are best of the movie smurf figurines released so far. Gone are the large feet that accompaned the 2011 The Smurfs 3D and the 2013 The Smurfs 2 sets, thank goodness! The feet on these movie smurfs just made them look weird. I also love the attention of detail that has been given to each of the figurines. Little things like Hefty admiring his muscle in his arm and Smurfette looking adorable again.
For those interested in the new Smurf House that also contains Papa Smurf and Gargamel & Azrael, this reminds of the large Smurf houses released back in the late 1970’s. Very Smurfy! The Papa Smurf used is the same one as in the Smurfs Lost Village Movie Set 3 and the Gargamel & Azrael used is the same one released as part of The Smurfs 2 set in 2013.
Thank you Schleich and all of those involved in creating the Lost Village Smurfs and the Smurf House these are simply the best, I can’t wait for 2018 football smurfs to be released.
Keep on Smurfin

Sorry for the late comment but I am wondering if you are also having a hard time getting Blossom Smurf to stand by herself? She only has 1.5 feet to stand on since 1/2 a foot doesn’t touch the ground. Also, will they release more of the new « lost village » smurfs or go back to just boy smurfs? And why is only Jakks releasing more girl villager smurfs? (I don’t like the Jakks version of smurfs as much, sadly.)
Thanks, Jenna for your question about Blossom smurf.
Luckily for me, my Blossom smurf stands by herself however I can easily see how it could be unstable. From my experience the smurfs made in the last two years appear to have smaller bodies and feet compared to their heads, which can make them top heavy.
It’s interesting question whether they will release more of the ‘Lost Village’ smurfs or go back to boy smurfs. To be honest I don’t collect or share an interest in Jakks smurfs, so it was interesting to learn that they are releasing more girl smurfs. I wonder if this has something to do with the increase publicity of the me 2 movement in places like America.
